The International Shakespeare Association, and World Shakespeare Congress hosts – King’s College London, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Shakespeare’s Globe, and the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham – are pleased to announce the following additions to the Congress programme:
– Booker Prize-winning novelist Howard Jacobson in conversation with Adrian Poole (University of Cambridge)
– Gregory Doran, Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), with RSC actors past and present, discussing the Company’s artistic life and history
– Lauded British actress Dame Harriet Walter on her roles in all-female productions of Shakespeare
The Congress programme now also boasts 45 international collaborative research seminars, and five workshops, on a huge variety of topics, at which Congress delegates share their research with colleagues from around the world. Topics include but are not limited to: ‘The Histories’; ‘Shakespeare in Asia’; ‘Shakespeare’s Influence on Other Writers’; ‘Tragedies on Screen’; ‘King Lear and its Versions’; ‘Decentralised Shakespeare: Provincial and Marginal Shakespearean Performance’; ‘Digital Shakespeare’ and ‘Shakespeare’s Quartos’.
Registration for Seminars and Workshops will remain open until 1 February 2016.
The programme also includes 17 Panels and three Roundtables, featuring a range of distinguished international speakers.
Numerous other cultural and intellectual opportunities for delegates will be available in and around the Congress, including performances at the RSC and Shakespeare’s Globe, special access to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Houses, and welcome receptions at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and the British Library in London.
Early Bird Congress Registration closes 1 February 2016. Standard Congress registration closes on 1 May 2016.
